Former Deputy CEO Alberto Gonzalez Promoted to Lead North Texas Projects
Dallas—Cintra has named Alberto Gonzalez as CEO of the LBJ Express, North Tarrant Express (NTE) and NTE 35W effective immediately.
He replaces Belen Marcos, who was recently promoted to president of Cintra’s United States operations after serving as CEO of the company’s North Texas projects for seven years.
Gonzalez joined Cintra in 2004 and has served as deputy CEO of the Dallas-Fort Worth-area projects since 2015.
As CEO, Gonzalez will oversee construction of the $1.4 billion North Tarrant Express 35W project north of Fort Worth that is expected to open in 2018. The 10.2 mile- project spans from north of I-30 to north of I-820 and is expected to nearly double the area’s road capacity with new general purpose lanes, managed toll lanes and frontage roads.
Gonzalez will also oversee operations of the $2.1 billion North Tarrant Express, which opened in 2014, as well as the $2.6 billion LBJ Express, which opened last year. Both projects were completed ahead of schedule and are credited with reducing congestion on their respective roadways by more than 60 percent.
“The NTE and LBJ corridors are prime examples of the ways in which public-private partnerships can efficiently meet states’ transportation needs,” Gonzalez said. “Both projects have provided much-needed transportation options for North Texas drivers that have made a meaningful and measurable positive impact on their commutes and daily lives. We’re confident that the NTE3 will deliver the same results upon opening.”
Cintra remains the industry leader in public-private partnership (P3) solutions in the U.S.. The company’s projects also include the I-77 Express Lanes project in North Carolina and NTE 35W in North Texas, which are both currently under construction.

ABOUT THE NORTH TARRANT EXPRESS
The $2.1 billion North Tarrant Express project, which began in 2010 and was completed in October 2015, included the reconstruction of expanded frontage lanes and main lanes, as well as the addition of bypass lanes and TEXpress managed lanes along IH 820 and SH 121/183 between 35W in Fort Worth and Industrial Boulevard (FM 156) in Euless. This expansive reconstruction project is successfully alleviating traffic congestion along one of the busiest highway corridors in the North Texas and the state, with as many as 200,000 cars traveling the stretch daily.
ABOUT THE LBJ EXPRESS
The $2.6 billion LBJ Express project, which began in 2011 and was completed in September 2015, included the reconstruction of expanded frontage lanes and main lanes, as well as the addition of bypass lanes and TEXpress managed lanes along IH 635 between Luna Rd. and Greenville Ave. and IH 35E between Loop 12 and Valley View Ln. in Dallas. This expansive reconstruction project is successfully alleviating traffic congestion along one of the busiest highway corridors in the state, with as many as 270,000 cars traveling the stretch daily.
